Insulated box liners for temperature-controlled packaging
Keep temperature-sensitive products protected during storage and distribution with our range of insulated box liners.
Designed to sit inside compatible corrugated cartons, insulated liners help create a protective thermal barrier between your products and changing external temperatures.
Kite Packaging offers a choice of foil insulated box liners and wool insulated box liners, allowing you to select the material and level of performance best suited to your operation.
Both formats can be combined with suitable coolants to create a complete temperature-controlled packaging system for food, pharmaceuticals and other perishable or temperature-sensitive goods.
Choose your insulated box liner
Foil insulated box liners
Our lightweight foil liners use reflective outer materials combined with insulating internal layers to help reduce heat transfer.
Choose between:
Standard insulation – reflective foil with a bubble insulation layer.
Premium insulation – reflective foil, bubble insulation and an additional foam layer for increased thermal protection.
Foil liners are supplied flat for efficient storage and quickly open into shape for placement inside a compatible carton.
They are available individually or as part of complete sets with double wall cardboard boxes.
Wool insulated box liners
For businesses looking for a natural insulation material, our wool liners use pure wool felt to create an effective thermal barrier.
The wool insulation is compostable and is enclosed within a recyclable MDPE liner.
When used as part of an appropriate packaging configuration, the wool range can maintain products within the 2–8°C range for up to 48 hours.
Wool liners are available individually and as part of complete packaging sets.
Foil or wool insulated box liners?
The best option depends on your product, transit conditions and packaging priorities.
Choose foil when:
- You want a lightweight thermal liner
- Storage space is important
- You require standard and premium insulation choices
- You already use compatible cardboard cartons
- You want a straightforward liner-and-box system
Choose wool when:
- You prefer natural insulation material
- Longer thermal performance is required from an appropriate tested packaging configuration
- Compostable insulation is a priority
- You want an alternative to synthetic insulation materials
Both options can form part of an effective chilled packaging system when used with suitable coolant and an appropriately sized outer carton.
Complete insulated box solutions
For added convenience, selected liners can also be purchased as complete sets with compatible cardboard boxes.
Choosing a complete set ensures that the carton and insulation are appropriately sized for one another and removes the need to source each component separately.
Add suitable gel packs, water ice packs or ice sheets according to the temperature requirements of your products.
Applications for insulated box liners
Insulated liners are commonly used when transporting:
- Chilled food
- Fresh produce
- Meat and seafood
- Dairy products
- Meal kits
- Beverages
- Pharmaceuticals
- Medical and healthcare products
- Other temperature-sensitive goods
Always validate the complete packaging configuration against your required temperature range and expected distribution conditions.
FAQs
What is an insulated box liner?
An insulated box liner is a flexible thermal layer designed to fit inside a cardboard carton. It reduces heat transfer between the contents of the package and the external environment.
What types of insulated box liners are available?
Kite Packaging offers foil and wool insulated box liners, alongside a separate range of recyclable paper insulated liners.
Do insulated box liners need ice packs?
Coolants such as gel packs and ice sheets are commonly used with insulated liners when products need to remain chilled. The correct quantity depends on your products, transit time, ambient conditions and required temperature.
What is the difference between foil and wool insulation?
Foil liners use reflective and insulating synthetic layers, while wool liners use natural wool felt as the principal insulation material. Each offers different benefits depending on the application.
Can I buy insulated liners with cardboard boxes?
Yes. Selected liners are available as complete sets with appropriately sized cardboard cartons.
