What are wax lined boxes for food?
Wax lined boxes for food also called ‘meat boxes’, are strong, robust, fibre-based, wax lined, solid board boxes that are suitable for packing moist and chilled solutions, even in humid environments. They are easily erected and can be filled either by hand or on an automated filling line. The PE (wax lined) coated boxes are suitable for direct contact with food, with the advantage that the products can be directly frozen or stored in the box without the need for additional bags.
What are waxed lined boxes for food used for?
Commonly used within the food industry to transport or store meat, poultry, cakes, vegetables and much more. One of the main users of wax lined boxes for food is meat manufacturers and butchers, using them to deliver or send meat via third party couriers as they do not require any extra lining and raw meat can simply be placed directly inside. Another common use, particularly for our medium-sized box is cake makers, as it is the ideal size to transport cakes. Thanks to the waxed lining, these boxes can in fact be used for almost all food items.
How do the wax lined boxes for food arrive?
We have two different sizes in the range:
Large boxes
These come as two separate pieces, the base is brown, and the lid is white. Lock them both into position and place together.
Ideal for use with our 610x990x1110mm blue tint gusseted bags (stock due 1/2/21).
Medium-sized box
This comes as a one-piece as the lid is integrated, it simply pops out into shape.
Ideal for use with our 350x685x650mm blue tint gusseted bags.
A demonstration on our one and two piece wax lined boxes
Our wax lined boxes come in two configurations. Our one-piece wax lined box is designed with an integrated lid, meaning the whole box can be popped up in seconds. Simply place items inside and fold the lid down. Our two-piece wax lined boxes are available one whole unit. Both the brown base and white lid pop up easily, place items inside the brown base and cover over with the lid. These boxes can be deconstructed back down for flat packed storage.
