What is EPR?
EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) has replaced the Producer Responsibility Packaging Regulations to shift greater responsibility onto businesses for covering the 'Full Net Cost' of packaging at the end of its life.
To facilitate this, the government has introduced a new registration platform called Report Packaging Data (RPD), where all producers must register.
The aim of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is to encourage producers to create packaging that is more recyclable by holding them accountable for the full cost of managing their packaging once it becomes waste.
Kite Environmental Solutions has been closely monitoring these changes since the announcement of EPR and is ready to assist you in navigating these new requirements with the support of our expert team.
As a business, you may need to comply with the EPR regulations. Are you affected?

What does this mean..?
EPR has introduced several new requirements for companies, with the main ones being:
- New costs for businesses, consisting of two components:
- The current PRN system, which covers the cost of recycling
- Modulated Disposal Fees (which apply only to household packaging)
- The entire obligation is placed on the individual producer
- Additionally, businesses are required to report the type of waste their packaging will become at the end of its life:
This all may seem like a lot, but we, at Kite, can help guide you along the way!
